What is Botox® Cosmetic?

Botox is the most popular cosmetic procedure performed in the US, as it quickly and effectively reduces or eliminates the appearance of facial lines and wrinkles for up to six months, with no downtime and little to no discomfort. Through a series of tiny injections, Botox gives you a rejuvenated look by smoothing lines near the eyes, eyebrows, forehead, mouth and neck.

Benefits of Botox® Cosmetic

Botox offer patients many benefit over other cosmetic procedures with its convenience, effectiveness and affordability. Botox offers patients effective results through a fast, simple and safe procedure. The entire procedure takes about ten minutes to perform, and patients can go home and return to regular activities immediately after.

Results of the Botox treatment are visible within days, as the appearance of frown lines and other wrinkles begin to improve. These lines will continue to improve for up to a month, will full results lasting for up to four months. During clinical trials, nearly 90 percent of patients noticed significant improvement in their appearance one month after treatment.

Risks of Botox® Cosmetic

Although Botox is considered safe for most patients, there are certain side effects associated with any cosmetic procedure. Some of these risks may include temporary eyelid drooping or nausea, as well as side effects such as headaches, redness and bruising of the skin. Most of these side effects are temporary, and will go away on their own within a few days.

Juvéderm™, Juvéderm™ Ultra and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus

Touted as the "next generation" of facial fillers, Juvéderm™ injectable gels gently smooth wrinkles and folds around the mouth and nose and restore a youthful volume to the face. They are especially effective on smile lines and "parentheses" (nasolabial folds) that run from the bottom of the nose to the sides of the mouth.

Recently approved by the FDA, Juvéderm™ products are made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body that works with collagen and elastin to provide volume and support to the skin. They come in three formulas optimized for the depth of the area being treated. Juvéderm™ Ultra and Juvéderm™ Ultra Plus use a more advanced, cross-linked formula for the correction of moderate to severe wrinkles or folds in the mid- to deep dermis.

Treatment takes only 15 minutes with immediate results and no downtime. Results typically last about 6-9 months and can be made to last even longer with a simple follow-up treatment a few weeks after the initial injection.

Radiesse™

Radiesse™ is a synthetic injectable filler that reduces wrinkles, creases and scars by augmenting the body's natural collagen supply. It can be used on many areas of the body, including the lips, nasolabial folds, peri-oral lines, depressed scars and oral commissures. Treatments typically take 15 minutes and require only local anesthetic. Results are visible immediately after the injection and can last for months or years.

What is Sculptra®?

Sculptra is an injectable acid used for the restoration of collagen and the correction of lipodystrophy. The benefits of Sculptra are not immediately apparent; the body slowly responds to the injection by building up collagen around the area, producing fuller, younger looking skin. After a series of injections (usually three treatment sessions) the effects can last up to two years before retreatment is needed.

Is Sculptra safe?

The Sculptra material is absorbed into the body once it has produced its regenerative effect and does not persist in the body. The active substance is poly-L-lactic acid, an extremely safe compound that has been used in dissolvable stitches for the past ten years.

Who most benefits from Sculptra?

The cosmetic effects of Sculptra are used for both smoothing out facial wrinkles of older patients but also restoring normal facial firmness to patients who are victims of facial lipodystrophy (loss of fat). This condition commonly occurs in HIV patients as a side effect of their many medications.

Sculptra is also an ideal choice for individuals who would like to have their skin rejuvenated but want to do so in a subtle manner. The extended time it takes for the dermis to build itself up allows for a sly transition as opposed to other methods which are apparent immediately after leaving the doctor's office.
