About Mary Awad
Mary Awad, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon with a strong foundation in biochemistry and cancer research. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology from the University of New Hampshire, graduating summa cum laude. Before medical school, Dr. Awad worked as a research assistant at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, where she studied the role of master transcription factors in pediatric cancers.
While attending UMass Chan Medical School, Dr. Awad discovered her passion for dermatology and shifted her research focus to skin cancer. She went on to complete her internship at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and her dermatology residency at UMass Chan, where she also served as Chief Resident. She completed a fellowship in Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at UMass.
Dr. Awad is passionate about combining her love for science, teaching, and patient care to provide personalized, evidence-based dermatologic and surgical care. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her husband and children, practicing yoga, attending comedy shows and live music, listening to podcasts, and exploring new restaurants.
