About Kathleen Joyce, MD, FAAD
Kathleen M. Joyce, MD is taking new patients at our Wellesley and Waltham locations. Dr. Joyce has been part of Adult & Pediatric Dermatology since 2008. She previously worked in our Concord, MA and Westford, MA locations where she enjoyed taking care of her patients’ medical and cosmetic skincare concerns.
Dr. Joyce is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Scranton and earned her medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Dermatology at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium. She was named “Intern of the Year” by the Department of Internal Medicine at Andrews Air Force Base Hospital in 2001. She next served the men and women of the armed forces and their families as Chief of Dermatology for the First Fighter Wing at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.
Dr. Joyce enjoys taking care of both adults and children with a wide range of skin concerns from acne to skin cancer. She is also very experienced with the use of lasers to address sun spots, wrinkles and scars, and the injection of Botox® and dermal fillers. In recent years, Dr. Joyce has become quite versed in microneedling as another method of rejuvenating the skin as well as for the treatment of scars. She also has a particular interest in skincare and enjoys taking the time to help patients develop a comprehensive approach to their skincare regimen using some of the great products that we offer at APDerm..
Dr. Joyce is a board certified dermatologist. She is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Massachusetts Academy of Dermatology. She enjoys attending conferences focusing on both medical and cosmetic dermatology so as to keep her practice always up to date.
When she is not at work, Dr. Joyce enjoys staying active by running, preparing healthy meals, and chasing her children around!
Doctor Joyce has a special interest in the use of minimally invasive technologies such as laser and microneedling to combat the aging process. She introduced microneedling into the practice several years ago and has trained many of her colleagues on this technique. She finds microneedling to be quite helpful for facial rejuvenation, improvement of fine lines in difficult-to-treat areas on the face (such as lip lines), and for the treatment of acne scars and stretch marks. Microneedling can be done in all skin types and is a very low risk procedure for the patient.
Doctor Joyce also utilize the pulsed dye laser (red laser) quite often as part of my patients’ treatment regimen for Rosacea and find this to work quite well and be well received. We do an initial series of 3-5 treatments then continue with a session approximately every 6 months to maintain the improvement.
